As the first English language book of its kind, PINK BANANA collects some of the weirdest, raunchiest, and most obscure manga of the 1960s and 70s. Even in Japan, none of these works have ever been reprinted, and will be the first time that any of these artists have ever been translated into English! Sourced directly from forgotten gekiga magazines (from obscure hidden gems to more mainstream publications), and bottom-of-the-barrel vending machine magazines, PINK BANANA seeks to cover some of the most unique and unusual manga that the Showa 40s (1965-75) has to offer.

This first issue covers an entire gamut of Showa sin: sex, murder, greed, sloth, and even bestiality, from some of the best overlooked artists of the era. That isn't all though; in our mission to deliver the most obscure stories possible, we have travelled even further back to the Showa 20s (1945-55) to the murky world of post-war kasutori pulp magazines, and dug out one of the weirdest illustrated short stories ever printed during this rarely-explored era. All fully licensed through the orphan copyright system, PINK BANANA throughout its 120 pages offers a unique look into a forgotten era of manga history, as well as two essays to contextualize its contents.
