"Perrilla", the title of this screen print by Mariana Ledesma, is a word play between the two meanings of the word: a kind of infection in the eye and a small female dog. This piece is from a series of prints which offer visions from Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mariana's home town, where a refinery has been burning smoke for decades, empty streets where sleepy eyes glimpse a couple of dogs fucking, a TV flickers in the distance with re-runs of the Mexican dubbing of Count Duckula, and clouds dissolve like the classic soap Rosa Venus into dirty water
